HackerReads does not collect any personal information or any other data from users. The app uses the publicly available Hacker News API and TechCrunch RSS feed to display content, and all data is stored locally on your device. For push notifications, we only store your device's push notification token to deliver the latest stories. When generating AI summaries, we temporarily send the story content to OpenAI's API. While we cache these summaries, they are not linked to any user data.
Ads and Analytics
HackerReads does not serve ads and does not collect any analytics data. We use efficient caching of AI-generated summaries while preserving user privacy.
Information Usage
Since we do not collect any personal information, there is no data to use or share. Your privacy is fully protected as your data remains on your device. The only data we process is your push notification token, which is used solely for delivering the latest stories from Hacker News and TechCrunch. AI summaries are cached with no personal data associated with them.
Security
HackerReads uses the official Hacker News API and TechCrunch RSS feed for fetching data. Push notifications are handled through Apple's Push Notification Service (APNs) with industry-standard security measures. AI summaries are generated through OpenAI's secure API, and all communications are encrypted.

HackerReads never collects or maintains information at our app from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of our app is structured to attract anyone under 13.
